Director of Acquisition Logistics

Mr. Platt joined Cherokee in January 2004 as the Director of Acquisition Logistics. Mr. Platt provides internal and external leadership associated with a defined segment of Cherokee’s business. He positions the company at the forefront of the industry and is a communication focal point and problem-solver in day-to-day operations.

Mr. Platt received a B.B.A. degree from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX. Mr. Platt was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Marine Corps upon graduation in 1976. In 1993, he graduated with distinction from the Naval Postgraduate School with an M.S. degree in Management. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1997.

Mr. Platt’s 21-year career in the Marine Corps included numerous postings in Marine Corps Group Aviation Supply Departments where he served in various positions. Mr. Platt served on the staff of the Commander, Naval Air Forces, Atlantic and, subsequently, on the staff of the Commander Naval Surface Forces, Atlantic.

Mr. Platt was assigned to the Marine Corps Computer and Telecommunications Activity in 1993 as the Deputy, Programs and Budget Division. He was responsible for overseeing statutory and regulatory compliance for Marine Corps IT acquisitions and IT budget preparation; drafting IT procurement policy and regulations; conducting HQMC Procurement Management Reviews; and assisting the Marine Corps IG staff with IT acquisition investigations. He later became the Deputy Program Manager for Contracts, and later the Program Manager for the Common Computer Resources Program Office, Marine Corps Systems Command. Upon completion of that assignment, he assumed duties as the Director of the Marine Corps Network Operations Center.

After the Marine Corps, Mr. Platt went to Science Applications International Corporation, where he was promoted to Vice President and managed, in turn, the Enterprise Infrastructure Services Division, the Next Generation Networks Division, and the GCCS Operations Division.
